There are many companies offering good deals on the internet and so it is really a case of having a look to see what type of car suits you and what offers are available at that time. Many of my visitors have been using a local company for years and the lady who runs it is very reliable. She is English and her details are: Marge Terry. Tlf: +34 (610) 918 686 or email: Terrysrent_a_car@hotmail.com

Yes, If you would like to travel by public transport I would recommend the train.

The nearest train station to the villas is El Pinillo, but it is worth remembering that there are no taxis at El Pinillo train station. However you can walk to the villas – to Casa de los Limones it is 5-10 minutes and to El Descanso about 15 minutes.  If you continue one stop more to Arroyo de la Miel you can get a taxi from there which is only a short trip.

Here is the train timetable.

Which villa is suitable for anyone with a disability?

I would recommend El Descanso.  When we renovated the villa we did it with mobility issues in mind.  One of the bedrooms has extra space if a wheel chair is needed, the ensuite bathroom has a floor level shower, a support bar at wc and we have a shower stool.  There are ramps for the garden steps but also a level access to the villa via the games room where you can also enter with a mobility scooter.

Yes, there is a charge – please ask for current cost.

Are the swimming pools safe for children?

The pool at El Descanso is gated from the garden and the pool at Casa de los Limones has a European Child Safe fence.  That can be removed if there are no children in your group.  Please ask us.  Both pools have steps not a ladder and there is a life ring at each villa.  Naturally, children should be supervised at all times.

What facilities are there in the villas for my children?

You can hire additional items from Mobility Abroad, a local company that will deliver to the villas. They have a wide range of items available such as wheelchairs, electric wheelchairs, scooters, etc..

Yes, for a good rate I would recommend Rubens.

Which towns do you recommend that I visit whilst I am staying at the villa?

Towns that are within an easy journey from Benalmádena Costa are: Mijas, Ronda, Fuengirola, Málaga. If you can travel a little further, it is worth booking an excursion with a local travel company to Granada where you can see The Alhambra, or to Gibraltar. There are travel companies in Benalmádena Costa where you can book a day excursion to any of these towns and the trips work out good value. I would recommend a company called Rubens.  If you want to visit the Alhambra independently you will need to make a booking online on one of the many websites offering tickets, for example at: alhambra-patronato.es

Can I use public transport to get around?

There is an excellent train service that runs along the Costa del Sol from Fuengirola to Málaga. The nearest train station to all the villas is El Pinillo.  There is also a good bus service all along the Costa. There is a main bus terminal in Fuengirola where you can change for buses to Mijas and Ronda.

Is a visit to Málaga town a good idea?

Málaga town is a wonderful place and very well worth a visit.  Get to know the real character of this wonderful city!  Look for the wonderful cobbled alleyways striking off from Calle Larios, stroll along the sea-front in the cool shade of the Botanical Gardens, pause at the well-known El Pimpi Bar to savour a glass of Málaga Dulce Wine. Be sure to visit The Picasso Museum; the Alcazaba and Gibralfaro Castle; the Roman Theatre; the Cathedral – all of which are near to each other. If you have spare time, check out the shops all along the pedestrian street called Calle Larios. It is easy to get the train to Málaga and spend a day enjoying the Spanish culture and the many tapas bars!

Would you recommend any local restaurants?

There are some that are excellent but they can change and so I hesitate to recommend any, however, there is an information book in each villa that has the details of some reliable places to eat as recommended by visitors.

Can I go skiing in the Sierra Nevada?

Yes. To drive to the Sierra Nevada from Benalmádena will take you about 1½ to 2 hours. It is a nice drive. You can hire all the ski equipment you need once you arrive. There is underground parking and slopes for all levels including good nursery slopes. You can also book lessons.

Yes. There is a huge range of golf courses available all long the Costa del Sol, plus some inland such as Mijas Golf and Lauro Golf. Along the costa there is the famous Torrequebrada Golf course plus many others including one in Benalmádena – Benalmádena Golf. All are easily accessible.

Are there any local markets?

Yes. The local markets are in Fuengirola on Tuesday, Torremolinos on Thursday and in Arroyo de la Miel on Friday. There is also a car boot sale/craft market on Wednesday in Arroyo de la Miel, or Saturday in Fuengirola. All these markets are easy to get to using local buses/trains.
